I was not around during the late 80's. Is GB or GBC hard to play for modern players? Wasn't there a lot of terrible games made at this time?

True, this generation has harder games then present, just give it some time. Correct, want stay away from very bad ones. Quick tip the later Mega Man GB games are considered better.
