The original upright cabinet was very popular in its day; topping many Arcade value/popularity lists. With heavy success in the arcades many ports came to other systems - hence this snes port. The game takes place in the T2 universe. Starts in the apocalyptic 2029 future war; as you help the human resistance and destroying Skynet's base. Then 90’s modern-day setting you fight of the T-1000, police, & protect young John Corner. Game well known for heavy action, quite epic bosses, and large range of enemies. |
Reviews noted this snes port “Closely match the arcade version”. Others noted the digitized characters of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Patrick, & Eddie Furlong all reprise their roles in likeness and audio in this game. Also, how this snes port successfully translates pretty much everything that made the arcade cabinet successful.
Some did note the difficulty, repedanness, how levels can get very tricky, & the limited continues. On the flip side some found the game little too easy.
It supports the Super Scope, Snes Mouse, & regular controller pad. It almost required the Super Scope or snes Mouse, to move quickly in deal with targets. When using the Super Scope the screen shades into a pink, purple, & blue to help the scope target better, as such the Super Scope or Super Stunner 6 works very well, but you take a hit on colors/graphics (the mouse can bypass this issue). Last thing is the game not overly long, but each well-crafted and detailed levels makes the most everything.
A highlight is the co-op options with mouse or standard controller. This also greatly helps with the challenge and good team fun. However, some find the co-op could make the game too easy.
Side note, when using "Super Scope" or "Super Stunner 6" you can see the fire courier by holding down the fire button or calibration target. When let go of fire lose the courier on screen with scope.
Maybe not for everyone, but overall looks, sounds, & plays pretty damn good.
Hasta la vista, baby!
