We all come to know the classic Snes “Star Fox”; an aggressive project by Nintendo back in the day.
It was originally released on the first-generation FX chip (GSU-1) to a modest clock speed of 10MHz.
The Vintex 64 team been building FX games that focused on the GSU-2 with native clocked of 21MHz: from donor Stunt Race FX games.
With some help/support from an anonymous source, we now have the original “Star Fox” game running on GSU-2 hardware at a clock speed of 21Mhz. This makes the overall game runs faster, smother, and quicker.
Note, the temperature and hardware are very stable. You don’t need worry about longevity of hardware in this reproduction.
Veteran Star Fox players will notice the speed difference. The game pace is quicker, adds more challenge (as need pilot quicker), and give a familiar game a different feel. Can also beat the game in much less time.
Some still enjoy the original clock speed, while others really enjoy this tweak on classic. Now available to anyone at a great price.
