I'm not sure if my order went through. Is there a confirmation email? Email when ships?

All orders have a confirmation email. Then a shipping notification email. If not seen these let us know. 

I got my reproduction, but not work? How many tests should I do? 

Simply try 5-10 times. If N64 just confirm if game needs Expansion Pak. For VB try another power source. 

We test before shipping. Yet for every 100-200 N64/VB reproduction can be odd dud. It happens.
Yet, this not very common. We know not fun getting a dud, but we'll make it up!

We'll ship you a free replacement! 

Our SNES repo have 100% success rate; never had a dud. For VB/N64 we never had failure in the wild after working arrival to customers. In other words when arrives & working your good for life. 

I had a bad experience shopping online? Also, this guy online said things?

May we suggest a test order. Pick a cheaper item/title. Once arrives, in your hand, and play fine in your system, the results will speak for both of us!

Be mindful of both sides of the story & make your own informed choices. 
We can list our item on our eBay page for your purchase; eBay has strong buyer protection system in place. 

How come your main store not on eBay?

We find eBay a great place to shop & sell! Yet, we like to organize bulk orders in our own system. See it as less fluff/systems/complexity between you and us to get the job done. 

This a very detailed FAQ. Was it written by a human or AI?

100% of everything you read on our website is written by humans. We don't use AI for any written content. Retro gaming is for humans with souls.  AI a neat tool, but its only a tool and never replace a human. 

I’m a bit overwhelmed with your many selections. What advice do you have?

​Focus on titles/genres that you known and enjoyed. And games that are important to you! To play and to own! In addition, some research with Google, and YouTube can go a long way. Regarding accessories, think about what most useful for your retro gaming needs. 

Where do you hide the best deals? Can I get discount with large order?

The listed website prices remain the same for all customers for fairness.
​If make large order we may add some freebie of extra stock items we have. 

Do you do multi-carts?

We focus on single carts. Idea is the true game you like/enjoy is on single cart. We want to avoiding gimmicks & over fluff.
Yet, looking into it between other projects.  

I read your back label about owning original software. How people go about this?

This is quite important! See some example below of how this can be done:

• Already own original version of game. (ex Star Fox or Mario Kart 64)
• Buy Japan version of same game. (ex. Japan Super Mario 64)
• Buy same game ported to another system. (ex. Game Cube StarFox Adventure for N64 Dinosaur Planet)
• Buy Nintendo e-shop version of same game. (ex. Digital version of game)
• Buy retro collection pack of game. (ex. Mega Man Anniversary Edition for our NES Mega Man 2 repo game)
• Buy Steam version of game. (ex. Orange Box for Portal 64 or Turok 2 remake on Steam)
• Buy floppy version of game. (ex Beneath a Steel Sky for our N64 version of Beneath a Steel Sky.  

Can try some eBay search. When possible pay in way that go back to original owners. Like Nintendo e-shop or steam. 

Can I provide my own custom label? Do you print your own labels?

​Yes. Send us the artwork/label and get it printed. We work with a print shop. 

What do your price's reflect? Is this a good deal for me?

​Our price's reflect the service we provide and not so much a product. Parts, custom circuit board (PCB), our labor, and other business expenses. No markup profits for ourselves. We do this for the player, the collector, and for the N64, SNES, & VB!

Like any purchase think about what are your retro gaming needs? What is important to you? What high entertainment value or semimetal. What platform or system you want play on. And make an informed purchase. Sure FlashCarts & Emulation give more verity, but we find many players soon return to their fewer favorite titles again and again on technology/platform they like. 

How long could official N64, SNES, & VB carts/stuff last?

The chips are hard die silicon and will likely last longer than any of us. The PCB may need replacement after 40 years. Capacitors get weaker after 20 years. This one reason why we sell quality replacement PCBs for repair. Official/original PCBs may go longer than 40 years, time will tell. Also, depends on condition, use & original build quality PCB was made too. 

Our products will likely last longer! As are all new PCB & quality chips. 

Dude, my hands are up in the air. Virtual Boy... Nintendo 64... you know how old this stuff is!

Picture it like this, chess, checker, & great artwork will never be obsolete. Something people keep using is not obsolete. So this older technology is living alone side modern technology. How many cars or computers have you owned and discarded over the years?  Like the human smile & other experiences; it has the same effect now as centuries ago.

Now, keep reading this paragraph if you want to enter the "twilight zone"! There are more people playing Virtual Boy & N64 than latest big modern Video Game flops like "Concord"; which estimated to have cost 400 Million. Even the Virtual Boy is way more successful than Concord today. Just think of how much money 1 million is. We'll take this a notch higher, do a way back machine to see how we at Vintex 64 written it here in 2024, how "Concord" is only the beginning! 

What is the best way to avoid a fake/counterfeit game cart?

​Ask the seller for an image of the Game Printed Circuit Board (PCB), with his contact info and date within the picture (written on a paper).  Then compare it to known example images of the circuit board (Google-Image "game name PCB").

How is Vintex 64 protecting collectors from fake/counterfeit game carts?

​All Vintex 64 games/labels/PCBs are identified as unofficial & Vintex 64. In addition, any suspicious requests/orders will be denied with requester information recorded on a list. ​In addition, if you have been scammed, and they used a Vintex 64 item, please get in contact with us and let's work together to track down the person.

Do you do large custom runs? Looking at doing our own release. Can I just buy your parts?

For sure, ​we keep large inventory for requests like yours. Selling parts is fine, less for us to put together. Everything we build, or stock, can be re-purposed for your needs too. Just let us know what looking for. 

I want program something to work on your hardware. What best way to test?

Our hardware is very standard. It actually follows original circuitry very closely. We do this for clone systems support and to keep everything simple & reliably. 

We can ship you our boards with your software installed or lend you our test carts; if planning more tweaks. Normally follow usual programmer hardware standards work on our hardware with ease.  

I'm a long established programmer related to SNES, N64 or VB. I'm looking for a project. Do you pay big money? I can use some extra cash. 

We have some programming projects. More for repair/testing actual hardware and reduce scrap factor. Other projects are nifty software tools/ideas related to retro-gaming.  And yes, we will provide big money from our personal finances to you.

We also know a programmer firm that can give you help in fast track big projects; in which you take leadership role.

It can be a win-win-win. Your software tools help us save time & hardware scrap. Customer get lower price on some of our products.  You get a decent amount of extra cash. And if go with the firm, they save you time on simple work. 

Are your carts re-programmable?

Sadly, not re-programmable; as they are not flashcarts. They are build from the ground up as carts. We use industry chip programmer to program the rom/chip/game then solder it in.

Do you plan to make more Flashcarts? I know you make a Virtual Boy Flashcart. 

Sadly no. This market is very competitive. The main reason is programmer groups will not support other Flashcart designs. The Flashboy+ is exception as we gotten great support from the Virtual Boy community! Thankyou!!

We checked, and sadly its not true. They are not honest or someone will change his/her mind later.
​So we decided to keep focus on current products. 

Who designed your hardware stuff? Discord said your using someone's else PCB's! 

"Vintex" is the owner and founder of Vintex 64. He designed everything; the PCBs, 3D models, drawings, etc. He worked in the engineering field for 20+ years and enjoys apply these skill to Vintex 64 products.

Vintex did not like the quality or way other designs where made. So he made things from the ground up to be: over-reliable, simple, use very common parts, & multipurpose.

​All Vintex 64 stuff clearly marked/ID. So we don't know why discord is saying this. 

I run a retro gaming YouTube channel. I like to review some of your products?

For sure, sample items can be available for your review. As running a YouTube channel is deal of work. See our video testimonials page. We feel very important people are well informed before making any purchase.

What are Vintex 64 plans for the years to come?

Keeping current quality product lines going at good price! We do have more ideas for more projects, time will tell if get complete. These future projects would only be relatable for SNES, N64, & VB.

I have boxes of special stuff from back in the day. I don't want it to go into storage nor want it on display at some museum. I want people to enjoy & use it!

Not easy times right now. How are you helping? What your take on these times? 

We are living in a difficult transition period. We aim keep focus on cost-effective & simple solutions for retro-gamers. We continue to look into ways to lower prices & adapt to the future! 

Human history has many transition periods. The world that will emerge after this period will likely be different. Best advice we have is educating yourself, make good plans, find good peer support, & be cleaver with the resources/time you can control. 

Seen some harsh discussions online about reproductions... What your take?

See below facts:

• Backups of your owned content is fully legal. This applies to music, movies, software, & games. If FlashCarts are okay, as backup device, then reproductions' are okay as a backup device too. 
• Vintex 64 does not profit from software content on products we sell. Our cost just covers raw materials and labor. 
• Vintex 64 does its best to address everyone reasonable requests and to grant every extra courtesy. 
• Is it really about reproductions? To let you in on a retro gaming secret. There a lot of attempt market control going on in secret background meetings. They can't say outright its market control, so they need to say/create a logic smoke screen.

I'm a modest retro gamer. I know you big shots. Let me guess. You have big lab or room full of expensive stuff. You have multiple 64DD. Speak code all day. I just want/need something simple.

We don’t have a lab or big room full of expensive stuff. We use simple tools. A soldering iron & multimeter. Vintex keeps things super simple. We don’t buy/own things like 64DD or N64 Prototype cartridges'. We buy/stock super boring things like generic N64 systems, sports games, & broken dirty stuff for parts. We make simple tools, like repair carts, that anyone can buy on the cheap. 

To come clean, we did buy/own a 20" PVM, but the cheaper medial variant model. And did buy a SNES and N64 bust up Kiosk. This was to make a better testing work station. For testing newly built items. And we do have small room with raw materials.
