Why does your Link Cable look different than others I seen online
We took a different approach to design/manufacturing. Ours is a sandwich PCB design that solder together. Faster to made, less parts, and remove expensive 3D printing.
The other Link Cable you seen online likely of Kevin Mellott and from Mellott’s VR website. He was the first to make quality Link Cables and was kind to share this info publicly online. His model uses a 3D printed connector.

What if I want the cable that I see online? The Kevin Mellott model with 3D printed connector.
We hope the VB community is happy with our Link Cable. We work really hard on it. Yet, we have nothing ageist those that like Kevin Cable more. Just sometimes he may not have stock.
What happens if my Link Cable stops working or gets lost in the mail
Unlikely to happen, but if does we’ll just ship a free replacement.
Can you make custom lengths or colors
Maybe, if put in request before next Link Cable build cycle. This maybe 6 months away depending on demand.
Bear in mind, you can simply cut our cables and splice a longer network cable between. Just make sure to match all colors and wires properly.

Can you sell me just the connectors or PCB blanks
Normally not. As building the connector (PCB sandwich) is a tricky process. Yet, we can make an exception.
Do you plan to make the VB to USB port cable?
Yes, we are quite excited to have an existing design in the works! However, not be available until later. We currently need focus on getting some other designs done.
Do you give VB developers a better price?
If you’re making a Homebrew or related Link Cable products well give you a Link Cable or two. We just request you cover shipping costs.
Did Nintendo officially release a Link Cable? How Can I buy it?
It was in development with one known in the wild. It was part of a development kit and went for over 300,000 yen. The cable was also referred in one issue of Nintendo Power as a “Playlink cable”. Also, been called “Gamelink Cable” by other sources.
“Waterworld”, “Mario Tennis”, & V-Tetris we’re planned to be 2 players. However, Nintendo decided not to release the Link Cable before VB launch. Yet, the “Link Port” or “Game Port” remained on the VB system. All of the above was likely due to Nintendo rushing the VB to market.

Why make Link Cables for the Virtual Boy
Many in the VB community been requesting it for decades. As far as we know no one else is actively manufacturing them.
In the past some people made their own home-made version. Recently Kevin Mellott at Mellott’s VR website made/designed the nice professional 3D printed model which was distributed thought the PVB website.
We feel the Virtual Boy Link cable technology has a lot of potential. We aim to make if affordable and available to all Virtual Boy players, collectors, and developers. It’s our hope that this will help create more Link Cable gaming content. And to help VB owners save money towards a 2nd VB unit.
