With the success of the Nintendo mini. The SNES mini released with final true version of Star Fox 2. The game is 100% complete as intended by the original developers. This edition is easily recognised by the unique Silver 2 logo.
Sadly, and ironically, the SNES mini hardware did not replicate the original Super FX 2 chip well. Which in fact downgrade the experience. Placing the ROM on a true/original Super FX 2 chips has it running as the developers fully intended you to enjoy.
Compared the Fan Translation this SNES mini edition: removed bugs, has own official title screen, you need hit pause then select option to change to third person view, official English translation that considered pretty good, but you have to obtain a power-up to enable lock on, & overall increase in difficulty.

By default, all our Star Fox 2 reproduction have a battery for save. So yes, it saves fine. Upon request we can omit the battery which leave peeper coins to be seen upon every boot.
