When it comes to special, unique, or out of norm games on the Snes - in the puzzle category we got Spindizzy world.
Ported to many other systems in its time - this edition is considered the sequel to a 1986 game called Spindizzy.
A single player. Take place in isometric view. The player must guide their space ship (aka a top) through several levels, to navigating hazards, avoid enemies, solve puzzles, active switches, build acceleration to reach elevations, as levels advance in complexity and challenges. All this without jumping & with no attach move. You simply brake or accelerate. Yet, there are special items that help you replenish your craft (aka your top). The main aim is to keep your health bar full and get to the end of each level.
Each level of the game has a distinct setting or visuals, that echo the outer or inner planet’s theme. Every level surprising has good design that fresh.
The game has a Easy & Hard setting each with own ending. The hard setting has a higher number of levels that are more elaborate/longer ending.
Game saves via password system.
Graphics decent for its time. With noted quality sound.
Reviews were surprisingly high for this special puzzle game. Many scored 9 out of 10 and it made many top Snes lists over time. Some reviewers noted the grandness of this title and the love/frustration in the challenging/reaction to thought/control this game offers. Many veteran player suggest this a type of game to come back to later after few months.
At first glance the game seems very simple/basic, but surprising amount of depth & reply value.
Just well done overall. A must look for any Snes puzzle fans. It will likely have you coming back to for years to come.
