An early concept of a Metriod like game.
Tommy Thunder was an early prototype concept by Player 1 Studios for the N64. The project was scrapped so Player 1 could focus on other gaming projects; which in the end didn’t turn out.
This is a limited third person shooter contains one maze like level, no music, one weapon, one type of enemies; spider creatures. The graphics where impressive for the time and many agree the game had potential; saying its the most Metroid like game that could have emerged for the N64. A reminder, this is an very early game test and does not content a lot of content to explore or do.
This game came to be leaked online by a gamer, who was reviewing Player 1 FTP files online, he came across it, downloaded it, but was password protected. He later, with advancement of computer technology, broke the password and got it running. Later the game developer shared more incite on the project as popularity of this lost title grew online. See full article at this link.
This Game Pak is a nice window into a game that could have been great. And was a nearly lost and forgotten if not for the pro-active efforts of one dedicated player and courteous developers that Metroid fans should give this a good look.
