A Between Contra 3 & Metroid!
Options Note.
- Please write/type the Front label you like in the check-out notes. As this listing bit options full. You can choose between the "Yellow label" or "Silver McGuire Label". Thanks for your help.
Developed by Factor 5 & published by Sekia, this game a sort of cross between Contra 3 & Metroid. With power-ups, enemies, and 4 worlds. You play as McGuire (in a robotic suit), on a United Planets Freedom Forces mission to save the peaceful planet Kataskis from the Machines. Picture it as a Western inspiration from Japan to make a game with flashy graphics, amazing special effects, & killer gameplay.
Origins of the game came from 1980’s PC and game was known during this time.
Reviewers where very good; all in the upper 8, or 9 out of 10. Reviewers noted “You’ve got masses of firepower, but while enemies are numerous, there aren’t as many mega-monsters”. Other note this game follows a simple formula “action + exploration = fun”.
Game been presided for really good graphics and its futuristic design. Gameplay very strong with chunks of enemies and range of weaponry, explosives, & even a Samus-Fashion morph destructive-ball-feature later in the game. Also, have some free-roaming style of design; so not too linear.
Game also pushes the boundaries of graphics & sound. Rich music that engaging that even support Doubly Surround sound; which quite something for Snes back in 1993. Many find its music really hold up well in modern times. A reminder, the Snes hardware did have powerful sound chips.
Game does take bit of hit for not being a refined/powerful as Classics like Contra 3. it does have a steep difficulty level (not issue with most player), & not overly long game. As many players wanted more.
Overall, Super Turrican still a technology accomplishment & a really good game that come to be highly respect on the Snes hardware.
