Metal Combat: Falcon’s Revenge
Expending from Battle Clash, this sequel is the last Super Scope game released & developed by the talented team at Intelligent Systems who main supporters of quality titles for the Super Scope 6.
Very similar game-play as prior Battle Clash; see that listing for more details. Yet, with many improvements to make everything better. Training mode, deeper character story, new ST to battle, 3 alternative endings, and 3 levels of charged shot, while Battle Clash had one level. Another great feature is getting to play a 2nd ST model after completing the base game.
Reviewers highlighted the detailed graphics, sound, & gameplay. Others noted the two-player mod as excellent. Overall, many find this to be the best "Super Scope" game ever made. Micro the original inventor of Stunner conversion designed it just to play this game!
Game includes a save chip/features. To save progress, continue where left off, & keep track of scores. All Vintex 64 carts will have new fresh battery inside.
Graphics & sound are considered upper tier for snes.
The vs-mode really deserves extra mention. One player will use the scope, while other will use controller pad. With the controller pad they’ll control the enemy boss mech and battle it out. This adds a new level of fun combat!
Game not overly long, but with harder modes and another time-trial mode these adds some extra self-challenges.
Battle Clash & Metal Combat raised the bar for shooters on snes with their level of immersion & quality. To put it another way, many enjoyed the big-badass-giant-robot-battles that was ahead of its time. Other wish Nintendo would resurrect this franchise to modern system.
Overall, Metal Combat is quality, fun, a gem, & a underrated game on the snes. Intelligent Systems took their Super Scope game development skills to its peak with this one in trying to save the Super Scope back in the day. It’s a window what could have continued, but where very lucky to get this one.
