Space fighter simulation based on cartoon
This is the first and likely the only space fighter simulation game ever made for the N64. Its based on the popular Japanese animated Robotech series. This game was under development before N64 was released; official announced in may 1995. It was an ambitious 3D space shooter specially for a console. It's aim was a simulation like experience of the Robotech series with a full story line.
Sadly, Game-Tek was plague with financial trouble are nearly went under; leading to first cancellation of the game. Later, Capcom signed a deal helping Game-Tek stay afloat and brought this game back into development. During E3 1998 GameTek/Capcom showed a demo of this emerging game.
Sadly, it all few through later as GameTek went bankrupt and this game was seen by many to be surly dead.
Yet, it now back on a Game Pak of its own. It is the prototype that was in later stages of development. Likely similar version used at E3 in paragraph above. Most of the game has been fleshed out. With 7 Missions, 2 dedicated training levels, and a hanger bay that player can explore, but it is quite buggy and can crash at times, the game also has a feel of polish that is missing. However, its playable, fun, and includes a 4 player multiplayer that works, but not 2 multiplayer does not work. Obviously can play 2 players via the 4 player option.
The Game does have a learning curve, as with all space simulators. Players will need to give it some time and patients. To assist please download and read the following link: rcdcontrols.doc. This file was written by the same member of the GameTek team who was kind enough to share the prototype game online for all of us to enjoy.
This Game Pak has two labels to choose from. The Jet label (first image) & Drone label (second image). Selecting No Preference will assist in shipping this product out faster.
This interesting game may have missed its day, but now gets a Game Pak of its own. Like the Terminator this game just wont die. This will be a must for Robotech fans and should be checked out by space simulator fans.
