Dragon Hopper, known as Jump Dragon in Japan, is a: single-player, 3D, action-adventure & exploring game. Similar to Jack Bros.
This very promising title was planned to be a Virtual Boy re-release launch title; to accompany Bound High & Zero Racers. Instead the Virtual Boy and these game was cancelled abruptly; likely at the last moment due to the Virtual Boy poor success.
Prototype we'll known to exist & have been shown at "E3" & "Space World" of that time. Ten known prototype copies known to have been made and distributed.
Dragon Hopper was 100% completed and at the time, it was heavily advertised in trade shows, and magazines in preparation for August 26th, 1996 release.
Developed by the famous “Intelligent System” for Nintendo. Considered a top title with high expectations. As “Intelligent System” known to deliver quality products; for example Paper Mario on the N64. Fun fact, a female developer of the original team spend significant amount of time on the project; easy to understand given the nice visuals in screenshots.
Dragon Hopper plays from a 3rd person "bird's-eye view" as you control your character "Dorin"; the young dragon prince who family was jailed by the corrupt prime minister. You solve puzzles, travel to various platforms, look for exits, locate treasures or secret stages, interact with other characters, & defeat monsters.
With 7 worlds located in same geographic region. Each world with warp tile where you also shop/spend your collected star coins on new spells or try the bonus lottery game. When you rescue fairy spirits in each world, you will be awarded an elemental power corresponding to the fairy spirit you saved; these power-ups will increase you means to progress the game & make your character more power; sort of like the Mega Man where you copy boss abilities.
This game save feature to keep your progress. This game card have full functioning save support.
